Alison is a registered Mental Health Occupational Therapist experienced in providing mental health support for young people (16+ years) and adults. For the past 20 years she has worked across both public and private health in Australia and Internationally, in both physical and mental health fields.

Evidence-Based Treatments

In session, Alison draws on a range of therapeutic modalities, and has a particular interest in integrating sensory – based approaches and sensory modulation to support mental health and daily functioning. She tailors each person’s care to meet their needs using the following evidence-based approaches:

·        Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) – place link to this website https://www.acat.org.uk/cat-explained

·        Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT)

·        Cognitive Behavioural Treatment (CBT-E)

·        Specialist Supportive Clinical Management (SSCM)

·        Motivational Interviewing (MI)

·        Mindfulness and Self-Compassion

·        Solutions Focussed Therapy

Integrating the use of sensory approaches, where appropriate in session, provides a better understanding of how your nervous system responds to stress, emotions, and everyday challenges. It allows the development of practical tools to regulate arousal, improve focus, and manage overwhelm.

These approaches are especially helpful for neurodivergent clients or those with anxiety, trauma, or hormonal changes, as they provide hands-on, practical strategies that complement talk therapy and support wellbeing across the mind and body.
